The Department of Commerce started in the year 1998 with Computer Application as its Elective course thereby making the subject a job-oriented course. The faculty of this department is very active in research publications, paper presentations, and participation in seminars/workshops in addition to the usual teaching and learning process. The faculty of the Department combine academic excellence with real-world experience thereby enabling students to think creatively and develop the mindset to meet the challenges of the globalized business environment. The students of this Department actively participate in N.C.C, N.S.S, and sports.
In order to facilitate the overall personality of the students, the Department organizes activities for the extracurricular development of the students in the form of seminars, workshops, quiz programs, and industrial visits. Various outreach programs are conducted to promote value-based education and to improve interpersonal relations . The Department has a well-functioning Entrepreneurship Development Club to identify the entrepreneurial talents of the students.
Orientations for the newly admitted First Year students, Remedial Coaching Classes, and Subject-specific Guest Lectures are provided to the students. Job-oriented training programs in the area of marketing / HR/Finance are arranged with the help of experts in the field.
