As part of the cleaning programme organised by NSS unit of the college and Swacha Bharath Mission, the volunteers visited the Veluthambi Dalawa Museum, Mannadi and cleaned the premises of the museum. Prof Siji Rachel George and Prof Shyni Kochummen, NSS Coordinators accompanied the volunteers.
Mr Justin J Idichandy, Third B.A. English bagged second prize for Mono Act in the MGOCSM Kalamela 2017.
As part of World Ozone Day celebrations, 2017, an awareness seminar on “Save Ozone- Be Safe” was conducted by the Department of Chemistry and supported by KSCSTE on 22/09/2017. Dr Ajith James Jose, Asst Prof, Department of Chemistry, SB College, Changanachery inaugurated the function and handled a technical session on ‘Say Hello to Ozone’. The function was presided over by College Principal Prof. Anitha Thomas. Prof A K Thomas, HoD, Department of Physics and Dr Gejo George PDF, MG University, Kottayam felicitated the occasion. Technical session II was handled by Dr Gejo George on the topic “Let’s Protect Ozone”.
The MGOCSM activities 2017 and the launch of College Website is scheduled on 11/09/2017 in the Seminar Hall at 2.00 p m. The College Manager His Grace Dr Zacharias Mar Aprem will inaugurate the MGOCSM activities and Adoor MLA Shri Chittayam Gopakumar will launch the College Website.
The NSS Unit of the College has Constructed a house for a financially backward family. The construction work was completed with the profound contributions from students, teaching and non-teaching staff and other generous hearts. The Pathanamthitta M.P. Shri Anto Antony handed over the key to the family on 01/09/2017. Kudos to the great work done by the NSS unit and volunteers.
The annual NSS camp was organized by the NSS unit of the College during Onam holidays. The seven day camp was inaugurated by Prof. A K Thomas, HoD of Physics on 31/08/2017. The programme officers Prof. Siji Rachel George and Prof. Shyni Kochummen accompanied the volunteers. Students have been encouraged to develop their social skills and leadership quality through various sessions.
As a means to encourage and instill the spirit of reading, Malayala Manorama joined hands with St. Cyril’s College to introduce ‘Vayanakalari’ on the campus. Malayala Manorama daily was sponsored by Karunya Eye Hospital, Pandalam and the retired faculty of Chemistry Department.
The College campus was cleaned up by the NSS and Women’s Cell volunteers as part of ‘Shuchithwa Kerala Mission’. The Cleaning programme was monitored by Prof. Elizabeth George, Prof. Siji Rachel George, Prof. Shiny Kochummen.
Induction ceremony for the First Year Degree students had been organized. Dr Jose Koshy, Clinical Psychologist and Counselor was the chief guest. Staff members, First year Degree students and parents attended the function.
International Yoga Day was celebrated as a joint venture of NCC and NSS units of St Cyril’s College on 21/06/2017. The function was inaugurated by Principal Prof. Anitha Thomas and the Yoga classes were lead by Shri Bheshajam Presanna Kumar. It was a great experience for the participants of the programme.
